The Grangeon Family,
Four Generations Of Winemakers

Transmission from father to son of love for the land, the vineyard and the wine

Construction of the old cellar which is at the family house in the heart of the village of Sablet

First vinification by the Grangeon family

Purchase of the current cellar by Louis, the great-grandfather. Louis went from the production of his vine plants to the vinification of his wine helped by his son René.

This historic building for the town of Sablet, was in the 19th century a silk factory then madder and a flour mill.

It’s a great year for the Parandou area. Denis, Rene’s son and Louis’s grandson, arrives on the family farm. What a relief, the relief is assured. Passionate about winemaking, he soon brings his authenticity that we still find in our wines.

This is the year of change and innovation in the field: the creation of the new winery at Parandou

With great pride and a touch of emotion, Denis gives his son Robin the reins of the estate, keeping, of course, always a benevolent eye.

Robin, with 10 years of experience in winemaking and vineyard management on another vineyard, comes with a know-how that complements that transmitted by his father Denis.

THE VINEYARD

Our vineyard of about forty years on average, with plots of more than 70 years, offers us the maximum of the richness of our earth thanks to its rooting in the different horizons of soil and its small yields.

Our 20 hectares of vines composed of the oldest Côtes du Rhône grape varieties (Grenache, Cinsault, Carignan, Syrah and Mourvèdre) are located in 4 municipalities offering a great diversity and aromatic complexity to our wines due to the different soils.

Our ambition is to promote the emblematic grape variety of the Côtes du Rhône, the « Grenache », so that our wines give us the best typicity.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

The combination of man and nature

Our main thinking is to obtain the greatest finesse and freshness in our wines by combining our know-how and mastery of the plant.

The perfect knowledge of our different terroirs gives the most beautiful aromatic complexity in our wines.

The mechanical operations on the soil and the plant are limited to the maximum to harm the least possible nature. We do not use irrigation on our vineyard to feel all the peculiarities of each vintage.

« We prefer to let nature live as it should »

VITICULTURE

Between land and vineyards

Our vineyard is conducted in reasoned culture. We seek to minimize phytosanitary products and mechanical actions.

Our vineyard is conducted in cordon royat except a parcel of Carignan cup in the place called « Plan de Dieu ».

The large fragmentation of our vineyard offers a range of terroir from marno-sandy soils to clay-limestone soils for the Sablet appellation.

Our Côtes du Rhône comes from clay-limestone soil, clay with alluvium and very stony soils.

VINIFICATION IN THE PARANDOU

The harvest at Domaine du Parandou is the reward of a year of intense work.

The grapes are harvested after tasting the berries at the plot. When the berries release the desired aromas, we decide to bring the grapes to the cellar so that each terroir expresses its history to the best of its ability.

A glass of wine is the conclusion of a long story
Robin GRANGEON
Robin Grangeon
Winemaker

Wine making is the period where we will adapt to the must to best present its terroir and its typicality. We have chosen to use native yeasts naturally present on our berries for a proper identification of our terroirs.

Only concrete tanks are used for winemaking to produce fine wines with intense liveliness and a fruity bouquet. We let the grapes naturally infuse, the maceration time is defined according to our tasting.

Like a cooking recipe, there is always a little mystery
