XVth - XIXth

The Grangeon family is one of the oldest families in the village of Sablet. A notarised deed from 1423 attests to its existence.
Before becoming a family wine estate, Parandou was a wheat mill and then a silk factory. Parandou, which is a variant of “paradou”, was a fulling mill used to beat sheets.

1818

Construction of the old cellar at the family home in the heart of the village of Sablet. These were the beginnings of the creation of wines within the Grangeon family.

1948

Louis, the great-grandfather, bought the current buildings. Louis went from growing his own vines to making his own wine, with the help of his son René.

1970

This was a great year for the Domaine du Parandou. Denis, René’s son and Louis’ grandson, joined the family business. A passionate winemaker, he wasted no time in bringing the authenticity that we still find in our wines. At the time, the estate comprised 10 hectares of vines and 20 hectares of leased land. Wine was produced, as well as mother vines, and mixed farming was practised. Denis also developed wine sales at wine fairs.

1978

This was the year of change and innovation on the estate: the creation of the new 400m² wine-making cellar at Le Parandou. It contains 40 concrete vats and can hold a total of 4,000hl of wine. The estate also acquired a range of machinery, including a label machine, a press and a destemmer. The new facilities will significantly improve production quality and optimise processes.

2018

With great pride and a touch of emotion, Denis hands over the management of the estate to his son Robin. Robin, who has 10 years’ experience in winemaking and vineyard management at another winery, brings with him a wealth of know-how that complements the one passed on by his father Denis.
